Discipline Policy

Responsibility

We want your children to be safe and happy at the family center. Please remember that you are responsible for them at all times. It is your responsibility to participate with your children during playtime, snack time & circle time. If you must leave the room for any reason, please take your children with you or arrange for another adult to watch your children. The staff is here to plan, implement and facilitate activities while you enjoy our space with your child(ren).

Our Discipline Philosophy

To ensure the safety and well being of all of the children it is important for you to understand that you are responsible for the direct supervision of your children, even if there is a staff member present. This may be difficult if you have more than one child, however you may be able to "team up" with another parent so that one of you can supervise the older siblings while the other supervises the younger ones. If a child is having behavior issues that could cause harm to themselves or others (bites, screams, hits etc.) it is our policy to have the caregiver remove the child from the situation until he/she has had a chance to regain control. Under no circumstances should physical punishment be used. If parents need assistance in managing a child's behavior, staff is available. If the behavior continues, the staff may encourage the parent to change the child's activity or to leave the setting until the child can once again play safely.
